The Wife Upstairs by Freida McFadden
3.0
this was my first freida book and i can honestly say that i loved it. i personally don’t like the “double plot twist” at least that’s how it felt, im not sure what else to call it. it built up this idea that adam was the bad guy and then he wasn’t but then … he was…? maggie and eva were a bit of a twist but they were shady from the beginning so them turning out to not be great wasn’t much of surprise.
tbh i thought it was going to end with like victoria being lucid and able the entire time, but the medications they put her on were keeping her disabled. so once she stopped the meds, she’d walk into the room and kill adam OR kill sylvie. i kind of wanted sylvia and adam to turn out to be a psycho couple who lured girls to their home and psychologically tormented them before killing them together. that was the type of twist i was craving i think. something that had my JAW DROPPED. i wanted to be astonished.
all in all, i really enjoyed this book, i just wanted to be gobsmacked and i wasn’t.
