Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman

4.0

I think I am going to try and write more reviews. It will be better for everyone. I love Neil Gaiman. I have no idea how he got so spectacular at crafting intricate stories with beautifully written words and Neverwhere is no exception. To be honest, I didn't like Richard Mayhew. I found him quite annoying and rather bland. But his story, now that is something different. His story kept me captivated and his growth is what made me come to appreciate him a wee bit more.
In the end, Richard does get a happy ending and although I realize that could be construed as cheesy, it's not. Gaiman has crafted something beautiful here and makes me believe Richard deserves all that he gets.
