From beginning to end there was so much disconnect, I don’t know how this novella received so much praise honestly. Even going in with extremely low expectations I was still let down.
The characters are so one dimensional, they come off silly and unreal and just stay that way.
If I had to say something nice about it I’d say the concept and overall theme could’ve made for a compelling story.
The writing wasn’t nearly tactful enough though, so it failed.

Two individuals, one vulnerable and timorous the other opportunistic and perverse. Corresponding online, quickly becoming seemingly co-dependent but ultimately toxic before spiraling out of control. The concept is actually realistic in that wayThe writing wasn’t nearly tactful enough though, so it failed.
Moderate: Self harm and Body horror
Minor: Homophobia
