Deadendia: The Watcher's Test: Book 1, by Hamish Steele

4.0

Maybe I'm just attracted to LGBT fiction without realising it, I picked this up on a whim from the library and really enjoyed it. The characters were vibrant, story really fun, and the art style was really cool. It reminded me slightly of Steven Universe, and after reading it I found out there's going to be a Netflix show adaptation later this month, so I'll for sure be watching that. I did find some parts very fast-paced and I did think I'd skipped a page because of how quickly the events were moving, with me not completely understanding how something happened
Spoiler for example Norma being a ghost at the end, was that because Pugsley's spell was revoked after he died? If so wouldn't Barney also become a ghost? Idk
. Ideally, when I watch the show, It'll clear up any questions I had, but this is the perfect adaptation with each chapter already having show-like titles and the art style being perfect for it, so I look forward to watching it :D
