This book is simply lovely but it is so much more and I was not at all expecting it to be packed with such themes if I'm being honest, like I mostly expected a simple enough fantasy with a cute romance. And while I did get those things it was also more. The characters are layered and interesting, the relationship breathe and unfold in a natural way, the descriptions of their world felt vivid to me to the point of making it easy to feel that I was there, that I could see it, experience it... The book is not action packed nor is it heavy on the romance, everything is just right. The pacing is good, building up to the final chapters and the climax is not grand and exaggerated because what matters is the conclusion of the journeys of the two protagonists and their motivations and decisions and feelings. And I appreciate the simplicity of it because the story is not about grand gestures but the steady and transformative nature of love and belief and faith.

What a lovely story.
