I went into this book expecting a dark thriller and ended up instead with perhaps one of the most devastating books I have read in quite a while. This book truly touched me. Chrissie is an incredibly interesting, well-written complex character. The narrative unfolds in quite a perfect way maintaining a sense of mystery but also emotional notes. Nothing feels overdone or gratuitous or for shock value, rather each beat of the story is for a direct purpose in relation to the characters. Truly touching.
