Lucky Caller by Emma Mills

5.0

I forgot how much I loved Emma Mills until I started reading this book and couldn't put it down!! Even during completely inopportune moments, like while cooking or on WFH calls (helloooo, COVID-19).

But can I say -- Nina is completely rootable. The portrayal of her radio host team is completely realistic, and captures those bittersweet moments "as things end." And Jamie? I'm obsessed with music-head Jamie, earnest Jamie, Prince Hapless, baker boy, whatever else you want to call him. Her prowess to build a love interest is only rivalled by like, Sarah Dessen (this is the highest of compliments!).

There are so many lessons sagely shared by the adults here, yet you also get to see them struggle to figure out what the "right thing" is to do.

Also, I almost fell off my chair during the live show. It was absurd and incredible.
