The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen

4.0

A very solid fantasy story with some brilliant characters (Fie and the Crows), some okay ones (Jas), and a fascinating and unique magic system. The romance was alright as well, if not a bit predictable - but I did like the way it was treated, it seemed somewhat mature and adult and not obsessed with the usual first-time-needs-to-be-perfect-and-oh-so-romantic theme. I found some of the names a bit grating as well as the use of a select few old English/Scots terms like "ken" and "betwixt" (cringed every time).
