Sweet Reckoning by Wendy Higgins

4.0

I binge listened to this series, mainly because it was so action packed and the narrator for the audiobook was so good! (Obviously the chemistry between Anna and Kai was fun, it was static!) This one stood out from a lot of the angel fantasies out there, because the nephilim and guardian angels actually acknowledged God, and used prayer and a sword of righteousness to overpower the corrupted demons. It was really fascinating how demons interacted with the characters, and how convents/churches were seen as a safe, holy place away from demons. One thing that might not be everyone's cup of tea was that Anna's virginity was seen like a prized possession among the demons, like it was the ultimate thing to corrupt. Even though each "Duke" had a speciality like Anna's father was substance abuse, Anna's virginity kept coming up as if that defined if she was fully corrupt or not. However, I can see how that might be a rarity in our culture, so I can see how demons would be confused why a niphilim would be a virgin and make her stand out.
