The Oedipus Cycle by Sophocles

4.0

Its hard to always be certain why something is good. The plays in this are short, not allowing for extensive plot arcs or over-complicated scheming. The characters are simple, powerfully believing one or two key things and little else. Regardless, putting those strong believing characters into simple conflict is incredibly engaging. I remember reading Antigone in college and not getting why, but damn is it so cool and good.

Also, shout out to my boy Oedipus for having to argue with people about the lack of evil intent in his actions. Actions that led him to blind himself and his mother/wife to kill herself. Freud really had to be the one to come back three thousand years later and bury him huh.

Ancient Greek tragedy, who would have figured.
