My Unwilling Witch Goes to Ballet School by Hiawyn Oram
3.0
I chose to read this book (borrowed from the public library) as I'm looking for series in the transition stage from picture books to chapter books. The Judy Moody type books that aren't quite comic books but feel reader friendly instead of daunting.
This series has all the engaging looks- lots of comic illustrations, quirky fonts and it's written in a diary format, and written from the point of view of a wise-cracking pet/familiar.
I am undecided. I can see that this series will be very repetitive but then at the age of the targetted reader, that repetitiveness is very comforting and what the reader is looking for in a series(like the Bobbsey Twins of the 50's/60's) in which case this might really appeal.
I guess I was just hoping for something with a bit more originality.
