The first one I thought was whack as hell but still a good story, it was interesting to see the murder of Addie's grandma play out and see her "relationship" with Zade grow. This book...holy shit. I am not really bothered by graphic things in writing
but the graphic descriptions of rape, assault, torture, etc was enough to make me feel uncomfortable to the point I almost DNF'd the book. The author did a GREAT job at not glorifying *actual* sex trafficking but it was a little much for me and took away from the story because I was exhausted from all the violence.
If you read the TWs and decide not to read this one, just pretend the very end of Haunting Adeline doesn't happen so you don't have to read this second book. Enjoyable albeit dark story but even pushed my boundaries and I didn't think I had any.
I also wouldn't categorize this as dark romance, it's just dark.
