Another one of the weaker installments of the series; while I really liked the exploration of another culture with revisionist history (the Incan empire if they were not conquered by the Portuguese, and the South American and African societies becoming world powers and that rivaled the European colonists) ultimately I think this book suffered for not having the ensemble cast of the Ariel Corps (Lily, Maximus, et. al.) until the very end. Hammond and Churki + Iskierka's machinations to marry off Granby against his will were quite amusing though!
