After the Sleepover by Kerry Wilkinson

challenging dark emotional mysterious tense medium-paced

4.0

Format: Audiobook, Genre: psychological thriller, mystery

Leah went through an awful childhood experience with three of her friends disappearing during a sleepover.  She found a way to move forward and live her life.  Twenty-five years later, three more boys go missing.  Just like the past disappearance, she finds herself immersed in the investigation of the missing boys.  Leah’s past experiences have made her timid, but she perseveres to provide support to an old childhood friend and help the investigation.

I was initially very confused by this story and had a hard time following.  This was an advance audio from @NetGalley, so, I did some research and learned that this is a sequel to The Night of the Sleepover.  I went back and found a copy of the first book to read and now that I’m caught up, I loved the story.  I don’t recommend trying to read/listen to this story as a stand-alone.  However, I do recommend the series!!  The narrator, @Olivia.Darnely, did an excellent job of portraying depth of this story.  Her voice was so melancholy and appropriate for the missing kids.  This is a great series for lovers of psychological thrillers.  There are a lot of twists and surprises all the way to the last page.  Thank you #NetGalley and @Kerry.Wilkinson for this ARC copy!
