I wasn’t expecting to give this five stars (I gave the first book four) but I absolutely fell in love with Peggy and Orfeo. I just love Alexis Hall’s writing/characters and the way that he writes about certain themes and topics. I’ve been trying to get through his backlist since I started first reading Boyfriend Material in January of 2023 (I didn’t document it as I didn’t make a StoryGraph account til this year). So far, I’ve read: London Calling/Material World, Mortal Follies and now the Something Fabulous Duology. I’ve given almost all of them 4 to 5 stars.
Alexis Hall apparently likes third act breakups but this one didn’t bother me since it was relatively short. And I loved that Peggy and Orfeo decide to start a family on their own terms even if the world will see Peggy as a ‘mom’ it doesn’t matter. All that matters if they’re together and they know what their family is. It’s so sweet!
