The Black Key by Amy Ewing

2.0

This was my least favorite of the trilogy. It began in such a stereotypical dystopian way. The romance, the gathering of the forces (90% young adults with the occasional wise old mentor), and the horrors of war.

What I Liked
The fact that Coral was at least not an entirely terrible person helped there to be a slightly more dimensional royal character. Slightly.

What I Didn't Like
Ash wasn't in the story. Seriously, he was hardly there.

Every death was handy and seemed so well-planned and perfect. Even the main death
SpoilerLucien's
was hinted at so much throughout the book that I could see it coming the entire time... but I never really understood what led up to that point.
