Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman
5.0
The fourth instalment of Heartstopper really pumped up the volume for me. Not only was there the same loveable characters (except Nick's brother...) and eye catching illustrations but also a tinge of something much deeper and darker.
I cannot praise this story enough for its exploration of mental illness and eating disorders and the import role that adults play in teenager's lives. Nick's mother is truly a wonderful lady and gives some excellent advice for anyone going through a similar experience as Nick when she highlights the important of support over solving the issue. The illustrations throughout these moments also dramatically shifted and changed to suit the world of the characters; it truly was brilliantly done. The inclusion of Google searches was also another great touch.
I'm sadly looking forward to the final book of the series and also keen to see what Netflix does with the darker themes explored in the volume.
