My Mother's Secret by J.L. Witterick

This precious little jewel of a book.

There are many novels based on the holocaust out there. Sadly, I have read very few of them. But each one rekindles in me the same feeling of warmth, sadness and hope. This book was no exception. Written in extremely poetic words, this book tells the story of two exceptional women, mother and daughter, who help save two Jewish families and a German soldier, at a time which brought out the worst, and the best, in people.

If there are books which do their bit in restoring your faith in humanity, this is certainly one of them.
