I thoroughly enjoyed this story! My goodness!

“I’m not ashamed to love you, and I will fight for that with everything I am, and I won’t hide it. [...] Someday we’ll make a difference together, be a finer nation for it, and show them that no other match could have existed for me than with you. We’ll rule and love like warriors.”

Where to begin? I'm just at a loss for words.

I read the family-friendly version of this book years ago, reviewed it in this account even, and said it was a story I won't be forgetting soon. When I heard it was being re-written recently to suit an adult audience, I was ecstatic... Boy, I didn't know what I was getting into.

This book had aged like fine wine, especially with its re-boot. Same characters, but more fleshed out and with deeper motivations. Same setting, but more vivid and colorful. Same important topics, but written in a way that I not only understood, but felt in my bones.

And it becames spicier, A WHOLE LOT, which is such a win tbh.

It is a must read for those who are looking for a stand-out read this 2024. It won't be something you've read before, and it certainly won't be easy to read or swallow. But isn't that why we read? To widen our horizons without leaving the four corners of the book?

Enter and be debauched, sweeting.
