Okay, I’ve been going back and forth for hours trying to get my thoughts together about this book. There were so many things I loved about it, but unfortunately there were so many things I just didn’t like.

Firstly, everything was just too. much. Too much unnecessary conflict, too much time in the breakup bit, too much childhood trauma that it was literally cringey, too much overcompensating on Adam’s part during the groveling period, too much *trigger warning* animal sickness/death, too much drama from both exes who did things that were so illegal I cannot believe it wasn’t further addressed. Too many pages, too many adoptions (like, what?), just too many/too much everything.

I really loved Adam from the previous books and I was so excited for his story but I just didn’t really love it. It was like an entirely different character from previous books. I liked that he didn’t blink twice at the fact that Rosie was a single mother, and I liked when he had her back when it came to Connor, but all the rest of the time he was either being super one-dimensional because of the hockey thing or he was love bombing the hell out of Rosie to the point it was uncomfortable.

And because of the whole identity thing, I feel like we got so much less of all the other Vipers and wives/girlfriends which bummed me out because I love their whole dynamic together. Carter continues to be my whole world and OH MY GOD, have I fallen in love with Jaxon Riley. He carried like two-thirds of this book on his beautifully sculpted hockey back. Literally cannot wait for his story.

But yeah, this one definitely wasn’t a favorite. I have such high standards for the upcoming book and I really hope it lives up to them.

(P.S. I also deducted .1 stars because they beat the Flyers and I’m a salty Philly fan, sorry.)
