Really incredible fiction from Coates. The story-telling was so smooth. The character writing was so, so rich, and very beautiful.
This novel puts the love, strength, and resilience of its characters front and center. I appreciated Coates' use of magic--while it was important to the plot, it was used sparingly and primarily for character development.
I listened to the audio book narrated by Joe Morton, which I highly recommend.
