This book was given to me at a local and independent writer event! Kercher certainly had a vision for this series and it is commendable that she set out on the journey herself so that her story centered around European Middle Ages and Druidic magic could be told as she intended. The writing is simply written in a way that makes it accessible to readers, but due to its content, I would recommend the book for older individuals.

Nothing is focused on in excessive detail, but features typical concepts you would expect from a European inspired fantasy work. Cultural appropriation refers to Kianna’s suppressed Druidic heritage and trafficking and forced institutionalization mostly refers to when several characters were carted away by those hoping to usurp the king and were used as hostages . There is an attempted attack on a woman in the book which is brought up additional times after the event takes place, for those who are sensitive to the subject matter. The book does not have content warnings in the book.
