The Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer L. Armentrout

5.0

This book was everything. We started right where we left off in AKOFAF and we started off at a sprint and never really stopped. I was either giggling and falling in love with these characters or tearing up and panicking for them.

I don't think I've ever loved a book more than I loved this one. The characters really developed, not just Poppy and Casteel, but so many others. Seeing more of Poppy and Casteel's relationship made me so happy, they would literally do anything for one another. Even at times when I was stressed the hell out due to their actions (looking at you Casteel, cough cough), I couldn't help but see their devotion to one another. Casteel has raised every standard I have due to his love for Poppy, he worships the ground she walks on. Poppy will forever be my Queen and I also would worship the ground she walks on. Her speech at the end made me admire her strength and determination even more than before. She really is a god and she's learning to accept who she is and won't let anyone stand in her way.

I loved all the Kieran content. I'm so glad we got more of him this book and he's a a main character (at least in my eyes he is). He would do anything for Poppy and Cas and they would do the same for him. I will never have enough of Kieran. Emil cracked me up in this book, when they were in Iliseeum I fell fully in love with him and hope we see more of him. Also, Delano, Naill, and Vonetta were great additions, I'm glad we got more of them in this book. I love a good group dynamic so I enjoyed when we could see all of them together. The wolven overall were fantastic and I loved seeing them bonded to Poppy and protecting her. It makes them all that much closer and helps those relationships run deeper, which we all love to see.

The revelations were insane. I can say, I didn't guess the majority of them. I was constantly surprised and couldn't believe that all of this was happening. Once everything has been revealed it all makes sense, for the most part, but in the moment I kept saying "oh my gods" to myself over and over. This book has a lot information in it but I think it was done really well. I wasn’t too overwhelmed and I think it’s due to us learning through Poppy. She is such a curious character so her asking all her questions allows us to learn with her which I really adore.

TCOGB really opened up this world. The story line and the plot kept me captivated. I never wanted to stop reading. This is my favorite book in the series by far. I feel like we got everything we wanted and more. I found is easier to follow the history and lineages in this book, I struggled in prior books but this one cleared up a lot of questions I had. I can't wait to see what JLA has in store for the remainder of this series. I know it will cause our hearts to race but also make us smile and enjoy the ride these characters are on.
