Tampa by Alissa Nutting

5.0

tampa takes place in it’s namesake of tampa, florida and follows celeste price who, under her beautiful exterior, possesses her own depraved desires. the novel recounts her elaborate seduction of her 14-year-old student.

tampa is dark and disturbing. nutting dives deep into the psyche of celeste, describing her every action and thought in detail. you are in the moment with her as she embarks on her predatory mission to find the “perfect” student for her to suck into her trap. it toes the line between being highly addictive and incredibly repulsive.

there were so many moments where i felt physically nauseated from reading the book but kept pushing through because i wanted to see what was happening next. i was utterly immersed in the story and the character of celeste. she was horrible, sociopathic, manipulative but despite being obviously the villain, you’re still willing to go on this journey with her.

this is another book to add to my ever growing list of female manipulator books. 10/10 would recommend if that’s your jam. please check trigger warnings tho
