3.5 stars - the beginning was weighed down by typical teen characters and their trite reactions to common (and some not so common) issues, but once Lily jumps worlds and begins her training as a witch the magic becomes huge and irresistible. The alter-world versions of the core cast are very cool and the world-building is exceptional. Looking forward to picking up book 2 soon and then the final comes in September.
