Once again I let others opinions of this book/author fill me with doubt that I would actually like it. But my opinion has changed dramatically. I REALLY enjoyed this retelling of Cinderella. This version has some elements of the original tale but it isn’t the exact same story. The plot pulled me in from the very beginning.

My favorite character was Linh Cinder for the fact that she doesn’t have the personality of the OG Cinderella at all. She’s independent and isn’t look long for a man to save her and make her life better. I also enjoyed Dr. Erland, he brought humor to his scenes with his elderly disposition and I loved his passion for his work and discovering why it existed at the end, when his story came full circle.

I think the ending was abrupt and came at an odd place. I understand a cliffhanger to pull the audience in but I would’ve liked a little more closure or questions answered before the end. I really didn’t not intent to read the rest of the series but I’m invested in knowing how Cinder’s life will pan out and what happens with Queen Levana. So the Lunar series is my series of 2023!
