De Bourgondiërs: Aartsvaders van de Lage Landen by Bart Van Loo

Just wonderful. I can't imagine the amount of research that went into this.
A very detailed and easy to follow account of the history of the Valois dukes of Burgundy. Despite being an audio book without family trees etc. to serve as a guide, the main characters came to life so well (and had good nicknames) that it was not very difficult to keep track of the Philipses, Charles and Jans.
Contains descriptions of some truly unhinged "meals" that sound more like performance art, a lot of attention for the art history of the period, Jean d'arc, a chapter on notable women of the period and a lot of etymologies.
