Revival by S. Usher Evans

In book 2, we’ve found that Jack has temporarily left the ICDM to help Anya in her quest to break the curse that has had a hold of her for over 100 years. She needs to have it broken so she can move on and find her place in life. But she’s riddled with questions and doubt, hoping that she doesn’t turn back into the demon she was before she was cursed. As they move from place to place to hide from Bael, Cam, and the ICDM, the pair become closer as Anya grows weaker.

Ack! This one was great because it focused mainly on our three main characters, all in roles they aren’t used to. Cam knows that the recent killings are not because of Jack and Anya, but she wants him to come back and explain himself. She’s torn as to what she should tell her superiors and what she should keep to herself to protect them.

While Anya spent a lot of her time sleeping because the use of her magic tired her out, I found myself even more drawn to her desire to protect humans. She got pretty crabby in this one and gave Jack a lot of grief, but it didn’t stop him from caring for her. I loved her character, and I loved watching the friendship between Jack and Anya blossom. Another fantastic read and a superb book in the middle of the trilogy. I can’t wait to read the finale!
