"There's no amount of magic in the world that is worth the price of a man's conscience" - 191

So the verdict on this is that I liked it better than Spellslinger, this novel fully developed the characters, Kellan was so much more likeable, less whiny more self assured. I have a feeling that as the series progresses I will start to like him much more. Reichis was funnier in this novel as well, his jokes weren't all about wanting to tear out eyeballs or whatever violent thoughts Squirrel Cats have. I especially liked the growing bond between Kellan and Reichis.

One surprisingly satisfying development was the expansion of the magical world within the novel, the borderlands introduced us to a new political world and mysterious plot that is darker than that of the Jah'tep. I am pretty excited to continue reading about this world and meeting new characters along the way.
