I am trying to read these books before starting OUABH… and it’s a bit painful at times. I liked this one much more than Caraval. And I liked Tella’s story and character better than the first book. But I just find there’s always so much going on that there is very little emotional investment… and things rarely make a lot of sense. I liked the introduction of Jacks though.
