I, Robot by Isaac Asimov

3.0

It was a fun book. It's interesting how humans always imagine the future to be so much more than it actually turns out to be. Also, damn Gorbachev for proving Asimov right! It's also interesting for Asimov, who lived in a time when women were fast becoming more independent, a feminist movement had already taken place, and another was brewing, and our man couldn't predict more women to be involved in all his futuristic escapades? And the one woman who actually manages to rise to a position of any integrity starts wearing lipstick when she thinks her love interest likes her? This is a woman who is more sensible, intelligent, and reasonable than any other man in her vicinity. But Asimov was a white man in America, and this was written in the 50s.

Also, does Asimov imply that robots are different than computers? But then, I suppose, it's not his fault to not be able to accurately predict the future lol. The last story was a bit of a drag, but most of the stories were fun to read. I had read Asimov as a high school kid and thoroughly enjoyed it. But now, as a grown-up, I prefer my K Le Guin, Philip K. Dick, Cixin Liu and Andy Weir. Would I read another Asimov? Probably, but not in the near future.
