This is a cute a silly little rom com that gives a lot of hallmark channel movie vibes.

Kitty and Miles are both awkward but good hearted dorks. There is very minimal time spent in the dislike part of their relationship, and once they move past it you get two derpy cinnamon roles with adorable pet side kicks.

This book leans hard into cat puns and silliness 75% of the time. The remaining 25% is spent dealing with grief from loss of a parent and loss of a child/sibling and caring for a dementia patient. Which might be why it leans into the light-heartedness because I will say it handles the heavy in a respectful way and it a major plot point.

That being said it does get a bit too silly at time. Technically it has explicit sex scenes, but the goofy is fully present and certain lines completely killed the effect it should have had. So maybe a 2.5 on the spice scale? That part was a no go for me.

On the pro side, there was no miscommunication trope and no third act break up, so that did end up redeeming this book in my personal opinion.

All in all I wouldn’t say this is my favourite Helena hunting novel, but if you’re looking for a cute, quick read, like hurt/comfort reads, and love animals, this book covers all those bases.
