The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter
Did not finish book.

It’s 2023, why are we using the term “savages” in a writing? I couldn’t make it past the first chapter. I stopped halfway to research if there was anything out there where the author speaks on his choice for using this word.
Nothing direct from Evan Winter thatI could find. I know that the inspiration came from his African roots and I understand that POC were also called savages. I tried to read on from that perspective, but when the 1st chapter ended specifying that the “savages” were natives that were attempting to be wiped out in this first scene, I couldn’t stomach going further.
There are so many books out there from inclusive POC and/or queer authors that are able to pull from their personal history and culture without resulting to slurs; which is exactly what this term is for Native Americans.
