This was one of the most interesting books I've read in a long time. I found the detailed descriptions engaging, making it feel like you were right there with the characters. Everything about it was so raw and real that it was uncomfortable at times but in a good way. Overall, I liked the first half of the book more. I loved reading about the relationships between Natsuko, Makiko, and Midoriko. Their experiences and feelings were so relatable that my bookmark was a pencil because I was underlining so much.  I feel like it's the type of book where it's either your style or not your style at all. However, if you're hesitating, I'd say give this book a try. It really is beautiful.
