Shark Drunk: The Art of Catching a Large Shark from a Tiny Rubber Dinghy in a Big Ocean by Morten A. Strøksnes

4.0

This book surprised me in two ways:

1. The actual adventure of catching a Greenland shark probably only consisted of 40 pages in total and was a minimal aspect of the book. The majority of the book focuses on the historical development of northern Norway's fishing communities and culture (as well as their modern plight), and educational information on the ocean and marine life in general. Upon completion, I not only felt I learned more about the ocean in general, but also wanted to educate myself more.

2. The book is shockingly informative in an amusing way. One feels as if they are taking Marine Biology 101, yet learning it while attending a stand-up comedy. The author has a good sense of humor and excellent storytelling skills.
