On Juneteenth by Annette Gordon-Reed

4.0

In my quest to continue to learn the truth about American history, I was immediately drawn to On Juneteenth when it was offered to me by Libro.fm as an early release to listen to and review. While I didn’t end up listening to it in advance of publication date, I did end up listening to it on Juneteenth.

This short book is a mix of personal memoir about what Juneteenth has meant to the author growing up in Texas - where Juneteenth originated, and history surrounding the origins of the holiday, which is finally a nationally recognized holiday.

Thank you to Libro.fm and Recorded Books for an ALC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
