3.5
Although it is better than Endymion, it still suffers from an agonizingly cringey romance plot (I will never hear “kiddo” the same way ever again), an obnoxious protagonist, and from overall missing the atmosphere and depth that made the first two novels the masterpieces they are. Its not the worst thing I’ve ever read, but it is still an immense letdown. The book also wastes multiple opportunities to explore plotlines the first two books left dangling.
Graphic: Body horror, Death, Genocide, Gore, Sexual content, Torture, Violence, Kidnapping, Religious bigotry, Murder, Colonisation, and War
Moderate: Misogyny and Pedophilia
