Did not finish book. Stopped at 12%.

I got about 70 pages in when I realized I did not care about the characters or their circumstances. I'm seeing a lot of people describe that they had a difficult time getting into this book. I don't know why I did not care. I read for plot, so thin characters and setting are excusable for me, but the character and setting were fine. The plot, from what I remember, was the building intrigue between the different characters and what they wanted from each other. And yet I put the book down. I'd like to give it another try someday. Or, I'd like to see a reason why others were having similar problems as me beyond "I couldn't connect with the characters."
