Crazy to Love You, by J. Saman

5.0

I fell in love with the Wild Minds group back during the earlier books in this series. The story of Jasper and his twin brother Gus loving the same woman – Viola – was an emotional roller coaster of a ride. Especially when all of the background of why Gus did the things he did was finally put out there.

But now we get into his own story and after the end of the other books, he’s trying to get over that love for Viola and maybe find peace with himself or at least move on from the things he’s done to hurt people. A song comes to him and as he’s writing it, his band and their manager realizes he needs to write this with a woman and they have the right one in mind.

Naomi has had a difficult life with a lot of pain and terrible relationships. While she’s trying to live out her life in the peace and quiet, she is destined for far more in her music career. This duet with Gus would be the game changer and opportunity that she needs to help her move forward in her life.

But their attraction is fast and hard, like everything Saman writes and it was a really fun ride to watch how much of a struggle this was for Gus. He has always been the laid back goofy one of the band that just never got attached or showed emotions with anyone. But now he’s the one in knots and the struggle he is experiencing is not only endearing, but it’s a huge development in his character.

This same kind of growth happens for Naomi too. She has spent her entire life being told what to do and how to do it. But now she is growing into her own person and when her past heartbreak, Florian, shows back up to manipulate her for his own gains, it’s a true test of both Naomi and Gus and how they want all this to work out. Will they fight for what they both want or will they both succumb to the character flaws they have been dealing with.

No relationship is ever easy and it’s even more difficult when you have to navigate through your own baggage to see what’s right in front of you. Naomi nd Gus are extremely positive influences on one another and this adventure for them is all about finding themselves and letting themselves really feel again when all they’ve experienced is loss and emptiness.
