“This is how it begins, flying down a country road. Windows down, music blaring. An old Journey classic, one she knew by heart.”

If you’re looking for an exciting mystery full of reasonably unlikable characters with something to hide, then The Personal Assistant is the book for you!

I switched between reading and listening to this title, and I recommend the physical book more than the audio. A few times, the narrator used a voice with an accent but didn’t continue to do that with the same character. It was just a tiny thing, but for some reason, it irritated me.

The plot of the story was intriguing, and I kept wanting to listen or read the story so I could figure out what was going on between the characters (husband and wife + mystery woman from the past). However, the execution of the plot twists was off. There was a whole aspect to the plot line that wasn’t discussed (or I missed it, but I don’t think that’s the case). So the big reveal left me with more questions than answers 🤷🏽‍♀️

🗣️ Alternating POV
🕰️ Past & Present
⁉️ Unreliable narrators
🤳🏼 Dark side of social media
🔀 Twisty, but the ending left me wanting more

I recommend reading The Personal Assistant if you’ve enjoyed reading any of Kimberly Belle’s other books.
