there is something about the way that washington writes that is so addicting, it digs its claws in me and refuses to let go, so i didn't hate this book ... but i can't say i necessarily liked it
i thought the premise was interesting, but the execution was just lacking. the worldbuilding left me a little confused, i'm still not entirely sure what's going on with the magic system or the world in general. i didn't care all that much for our FMC, although by the end i was a little more fond of her, i think that was mostly because calder was definitely my favorite.
at the end of this book i can't say i care all that much about the plot or the characters, and yet i will be continuing the series because ... i am curious about how this relationship is going to develop into romance from what it currently is
