Wow this book was wayyyy darker than I anticipated. It was scary!!! My really only issue is with Keenan and the way he kissed Laia like that was absolutely not the moment for that. Read the fucking room you weirdo. The ending was actually kind of devastating of Laia being the last trial, Elias refusing to kill her, and Helene having to swear loyalty to Marcus. Like my god no one can catch a damn break in this book. I can't wait to read the rest of the series but also I need like, one good thing to happen to someone. Loved the evolution of Laia's character and how she became someone who fights and makes her own choices. I hope we get more about Cook and her backstory because I am sooo intrigued by her!! There is something so spooky brewing with the Nightbringer and all the other creatures. It's going to get wild in the next books I suspect.
