Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
4.0
This is the story of a fictional 1970's rock band told through interviews of everyone involved. I was drawn in immediately and read through the first 100 pages rapidly. After that, a lot of it felt kind of cliche, and I almost lost interest. I told myself that I hoped something unexpected happens. Reid does pull this off, and the rock and roll mythology plays out up to the end. There are a few small surprises. What I liked best is the goddess archetypes the women represented: Daisy as Aprhrodite, Camila as Hera, Karen as Athena. This is something I recognized, never stated in the book. But I loved the representations of the women fully formed and with lives of their own. It is not always the way it felt at that time, and in the rock world especially where male energy dominates. Kudos to Reid for rounding it out.
