While this book was amazing and inspiring in a lot of ways, and also made me cry, there are some questionable theological moments as well. Some of Bilquis's experiences I would interpret differently than she did, and others I just don't how to explain at all, but I think her love for God and intense desire to obey Him really outshines everything questionable in the book.
Did Jesus really come to her in a vision and tell her it was time to get baptized? I don't know, but I love that her reaction was to search the Scriptures and see if this was something Jesus really would want her to do. Does baptizing yourself count as a valid baptism? In my opinion no, but she did it out of an enthusiasm for prompt obedience, and also received a 'proper' baptism soon after, so it doesn't seem harmful.
Highly recommended for most readers, just use some theological discernment as reading.
