This one was much harder to read because of the absolute desolation that Phedra experiences. It was hard to want to keep reading when it just kept getting worse and worse for her. I'm glad I kept reading! But ouch. I do think that this one got a little too complicated for me: I kept forgetting who characters were and how they were related. But I think that's a Me Problem. Still very good. Even if Carey places the French as a god's chosen people.
