2 Fuzzy, 2 Furious, by Shannon Hale, Dean Hale

I really enjoyed this for what it was -a middle school superhero romp with appealing characters that nodded all over the place at the larger Marvel universe in cute ways, while talking about themes of inclusion, talking to friends about feelings, and how evil accomplishes evil by trying to sow hate and discord. It was smart and funny and fluffy like a squirrel's tale, but with real heart. It was even enjoyable to read aloud, despite the texting sections (probably best if your read-aloud partner is able to read along over your shoulder during those parts, it added some clarity). I also appreciated that the book took time to address Ana Sofia's hearing consistently and throughout in ways that will help young readers become more aware of her experience in the world that assumes everyone can hear - and in the process, they may become more aware of inclusive language and behaviors. I look forward to going back and reading the first one!
