Way Station by Clifford D. Simak

4.0

I found this book on a list of Hugo Award Winners. What a shame that it is out of print -- I found a copy used on Amazon. It's a very imaginative Cold War Era science fiction novel about a Civil War veteran who is granted immortality in exchange for his service in running a Way Station for aliens to travel the galaxy. His farmhouse becomes a pit stop for their travel. I thought it was interesting that Clifford Simak both described and named "The Force" a few years before George Lucas did!
