The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

5.0

I read this for the first time when I was seventeen and now having finally purchased my own copy, I re-read the novel over the course of a day. It is so beautiful and I don't care if I'm suppose to pretend to be to old to 'cool' or whatever to love this novel - I admit it! I do love this novel. Very much. I think Charlie is a great, unique, fictional character that is so realistic and emotional, I found his story to be sad and real and I preferred the reality of his eventual relapse back into his old emotions. It gave the character an authenticity that many books and T.V shows avoid in preference for a happy ending. Some writers chose to cure the main character instantly making them unbelievable but Charlie was something else. He was real. You want to be his friend. And Sam's friend and Patrick's friend.

2021 - I read this in 2013 and a year before that which I don’t remember.
I love this book. It tears me apart in a way that I have trouble describing. It hurts me so many times and I wouldn’t change it, change the way it makes me feel.
