Priest Turned Therapist Treats Fear of God: Poems by Tony Hoagland

I learned about Tony Hoagland when I read his poem 'On A Scale of 1-10' on reddit. A poet for fans of dark comedy. From this collection, some favorite poems were Entangle, No Thank You, Distant Regard, Ten Questions for The New Age & I Have Good News, but the list goes on. My cat seemed to enjoy me reading these outloud to him, so extra points for that. 

From Distant Regard:

It took me a long time to understand the phrase "distant regard,"
but I am grateful for it now, 
and I am grateful for my heart, 
that turned out to be good, after all;
and grateful for my mind,
to which, in retrospect, I can see
 
I have never been sufficiently kind.
