It really attempted to be heartfelt but gave you no reason to like or relate to the characters untill almost the very end. By the time I got to any reason to care about the characters I was already so annoyed with the writing that I just wanted the volume to be over with.
The story just jumps straight in with 0 history on the characters, why they feel the way they do or their relationships with each other. It just hopes you pick it us as you go (which is extremely easy to do but removes anything meaningful or compelling from the characters actions and relationships). This was so much so a problem that the author even included a bit where they just added a new character with no context and never gave context for them for laughs.
Also what the fuck was up with the evil kermit bit? That wasted so much time and page stace in every chapter for no reason but to annoy the hell out of me.
